Brain Wave Café Assistant Volunteer

The role of the volunteer is to assist the program facilitator to implement and coordinate weekly Brain Wave Café programs. The Brain Wave Café offers an informal place for people to meet up on a regular basis for a coffee, get information, share experiences and participate in “healthy brain” activities within their local communities.  Individuals living with cognitive change or dementia, care partners, family and friends are all welcome.

Friendly Visiting Volunteer

Friendly Visiting volunteers are those who are willing to share their time to make a difference in the life of an individual who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.  Volunteers visit our clients once per week in the client’s home.  The volunteer will engage the client in a meaningful activity during their visit.

Fundraising Volunteer

Fundraising volunteers assist with various tasks throughout the planning and culmination of our fundraising events. Volunteers are required as committee members, for office support and event day support. Each commitment varies in length from several months to a few hours and is required at various times throughout the year.

Office Volunteer

Office volunteers assist with the day to day functions of the Alzheimer Society.  Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Duties can include: assisting with mailings, photocopying, shredding, compiling packages and data entry.

REBEL Group Volunteer

The role of the Activity Volunteer is to assist clients and care partners during REBEL group sessions.  The Activity Volunteer will help to encourage a sense of community, support and fulfillment in a safe and nurturing environment, while listening to the voices of the participants because they need to be acknowledged, consulted, supported and empowered to remain active as they direct their own plans for the present and future.
